Pataha Creek is identified as a major Spawning Area for steelhead and is identified as part of the Tucannon River steelhead population. As part of the Walla Walla Community College Culvert Assessment several partial fish passage barrier for juvenile steelhead were identified throughout the river length. The two lowest barriers in the drainage (HWY 261 & HWY 12) at river mole 1 and 10 were assessed by the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation and completed in 2011. The objective of this project is to design and pursue funding to build passage at the 5 remaining structures in the watershed.
